Routine Appointments
To book a routine appointment you can call, use the NHS app, come in person or even contact us through our website.
Routine appointments can be booked in to 2 weeks ahead and the reception team will ask you a serious of short questions. This is to help gage urgency and also to sign post you to the most appropriate clinician, this may not always be a Doctor.
We do not need to triage you for a nurses appointment, but we do need to know what it is for as some procedures take longer than others.
Urgent Appointment
If you have an urgent medical problem that cannot wait, please call at 8am for Thorpe and 8:30am for Central for morning emergencies. For afternoon you will need to call back at 1pm for both surgeries, Thorpe is closed on Wednesday afternoons.
Please not that there is a limit to how many emergencies that we can deal with and if we have reached capacity you maybe offered alternative services such as NHS 111 after 6:30pm, pharmacy or to call back. We also receive support from Queensway Surgery who help offer additional appointments.
In life-threatening emergencies such as severe bleeding, collapse, unconsciousness, severe chest pains and severe breathlessness, telephone 999.
Evening & Weekend GP & Nurse Appointments
Our surgery provides additional GP & Nurse appointments on weekday evenings 6.30pm to 8.00pm and weekends 9.00am to 3.00pm

This can be used to request help with medical issues, administrative queries or to get online advice on how to manage your symptoms.
If appropriate we will contact you and make you an appointment for medical issues. For urgent medical problems please still call the surgery.
Admin queries include: fit (sick) note, test results, repeat prescriptions requests and anything else admin related.

This service is available from 8:30am to 6:30pm Monday to Friday. We will get back to you within 3 working days, this does not include weekends or bank holidays.
Booking Appointments Online
You can also register Online to request your prescriptions, make appointments and request to see your medical records. To arrange this, please bring ID with you. eg Passport, Driving Licence etc and speak to the Receptionists to register for this “On-line” service.
Alternatively, the Receptionist may register you for Online services if you are known to them but this does not apply to newly registered Patients.
Once you have your login details please sign into SystmOnline.
Cancelling or changing an appointment
If you can not make your appointment let us know as soon as you can so another patient can book the appointment time. You can cancel or change your appointment:
- Phone us.
- Visit the surgery and speak with a receptionist.
- Or use the NHS app.
If you need help when we are closed
- Use NHS 111 online (111.nhs.uk) or call 111. 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.
- If it’s a life-threatening emergency call 999.

If you already use online access you can continue to use it. You can use the NHS App as well.

Home Visits
If you cannot get to your surgery and need a home visit then you are requested to telephone your usual surgery telephone number before 11.00am if possible. Please do not ask for a home visit if you are able to attend the surgery. Please give the receptionist as much information as possible to enable the doctor to allocate priority to house calls. Visits are for those who are housebound or too ill to go out. Otherwise, please try and come to the surgery.
